Sabre Systems, Inc. is currently recruiting for a Scientific Technical Writer to work in Seattle, WA.
Job Description:
The contractor performs technical writing and editing tasks for scientific or technical documents. Duties may include, but not necessarily be limited to: writing and developing scientific or technical documents; substantive editing of such documents (including editing figures and tables); mechanical editing for language, format, and style; and production editing (electronic page layout of text, figures, and tables in documents). The candidate will prepare technical memoranda or other scientific documents in prescribed formats. The contractor’s performance of technical writing and editing tasks may include working with technical writers, editors, illustrators, authors, subject matter experts, NWFSC scientific or research staff, and information technology or other production staff. When documents involve several sections written by different authors, the technical editor ensures that the document sections are consistent and appear as parts of one cohesive document to the reader. The editing process typically involves querying the author regarding discrepancies or other content matters. Although the candidate is expected largely to work through the lead author on particular documents, the technical editor may be required to interact with multiple authors.
Subject areas involve endangered species, fisheries management, environmental contaminants, and conservation of fish, and sea mammal species. Document length may vary from several pages to several hundred pages.
Job Requires:
The ability to deal with complex editing and formatting issues involving many figures and tables
Knowledge of PC systems with Microsoft Windows
Experience with Microsoft Office
