Web Applications Developer / System Administration

Job Description
Will provide computer and network support to configure new Linux and Windows 2003 servers, laptops, and storage devices as they come online. Will maintain the existing system architecture; plan and enhance this architecture; maintain existing RAID array storage configurations; and provide mechanisms for creating system backups of all servers and workstations. In addition, will gather requirements, design, document, develop, test, and deploy web applications using Oracle Application Express, HTML, Java Script, SQL, PL/SQL, and Java. Will work closely with staff and researchers to gather and document functional requirements, business rules, and design the process flow of the application using Oracle Designer CASE Tool and Visio. Will perform all first-level unit testing, assure applications meet security standards, and work with the tester to ensure that all software bugs are fixed and that applications are functioning properly before they are released on the Internet. An off-site work schedule may be arranged, but the candidate must be available by phone, e-mail, or in person during the regular work-week schedule. The work schedule associated with off-site work shall be reviewed each month for workability and appropriateness in meeting the Government’s requirements.
Required Skills
5+ years general computer specialist experience or equivalent schooling with minimum 1 years of HTML, Application Express, and MS Office software. Must be proficient and familiar with development tools such as Oracle CASE Designer, HTML Editor, TOAD, Visio, and Subversion. Experience with web design/development; unit testing; Linux/Windows server (laptop and network support); RAID storage; and Oracle. Strong oral and written communication skills.
Education
Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or related discipline or equivalent experience.
